Getting Here
Key West is an island that lies miles off Florida's south coast. The tiny island, which measures 2 miles by 4 miles is actually closer to Havana, Cuba than to Miami, Florida. To get to Key West, visitors have the choice of air, land, or sea transportation.

Flights to Key West: Airlines that service Key West include Delta, American, US Air, Cape Air, and Continental. For most every air traveler, you will change to a smaller plane in South Florida for the final leg to Key West. If you fly during daylight, the view of the Florida Keys is breathtaking.

Driving to Key West: When driving to Key West, the most western island among the Florida Keys, you are embarking on one of the most scenic roads in North America. A series of bridges and islands extend nearly 90 miles off the mainland until its end at U.S. Highway 1 mile marker zero: Key West.

Along the drive, you can check what the rest of the Keys look and feel like. But it's the bridges, sloping above the blue green water, that steal the show. The longest, the Seven Mile Bridge, gives drivers the truest sense that they are heading out to sea.

From Miami, the drive will take approximately 3 hours; from Ft. Lauderdale it will take nearly 4 hours. Take your time on this drive. The speed limits are strictly enforced, especially in the 14 mile Key Deer zone where the speed is 35 at night and 45 during the day.

Getting Around
From the Casa Marina, most everything is within walking distance. Many guests driving from Miami return their car at the Key West airport, and pick another one back up at the end of their week.

Plan for Your Downtime
The locals recommend this site to help you figure out what to do when on the island.

What To Pack
Key West has to be one of the sunniest and warmest places in the United States year round. The average temperature in winter is 75-80 degrees with warmer days mixed in. The weather is almost perfect every day with passing showers that don't last long, so don't forget your bathing suit and sandals! AHTD events are all business casual.
