ASSOCIATION EDUCATION ALLIANCE (AEA)

How to Find and Keep the Right Employees…Without Stealing from the Competition
Distributors typically spend about half of their gross margin dollars on employee wages and benefits - a huge investment. Yet they rarely invest a commensurate amount of time and energy on selecting and retaining them. Important management activities such as employee selection, screening, and programs for keeping employees motivated must all be working together effectively towards improving productivity. This seminar is a practical examination of practices which may be working against your organization rather than for it, and teaches the tools needed to hire and develop a highly motivated staff positioned for success.

PRODUCT AND PRICE INFORMATION FORMAT

The PTDA/BSA Product & Price Information Format (PPIF) is a standardized format for electronic transmission of manufacturer price and product updates.  AHTD has endorsed this format .  Please review this carefully and consider implementing this in your company.

Designed to supersede both ANSI X.12 832 and custom manufacturer pricing formats, the PPIF is a single-format, single-program system that can be easily installed and used by manufacturers, distributors and OEMs.  The ASCII format eliminates the need for significant software expenditure by users and may be transmitted via mail, e-mail or the Internet. One way to greater savings: The PPIF reduces costs to create, transmit and upload updates.

  • One way to improved accuracy: By eliminating the need for manual re-keying by distributors, the PPIF ensures accuracy and reduces the time to upload and implement updates.
  • One way to enhanced efficiency: The PPIF allows manufacturers to supply and distributors to receive price updates in a single standardized format, dramatically reducing transaction costs and improving channel efficiency.

Released Oct. 18, 2005, PPIF v. 2.0 includes:

  • Revised field names to better match common industry terminology.
  • Expanded field definitions and comments to address confusion over correct use and/or interpretation.
  • Improved nomenclature to flag new, obsolete and price-on-request (POR) products.
  • New fields for minimum order quantity, conditional price multiplier, conditional invoice price, and user-defined use.

PPIF supplemental documents also have been revised and significantly expanded to:

  • Clarify format use requirements.
  • Describe Read Me requirements and recommended content.
  • Provide examples of acceptable PPIF usage.
  • Describe how to convert PPIF data to Microsoft® Excel or Microsoft® Access.
