Responsibility in manufacturing, movement and energy
For Wachendorff Automation, sustainability is not a short-term trend, but an ongoing process. As a manufacturer of automation solutions, we are committed to taking responsibility for environmental issues. Over the past few years, we have therefore implemented a number of measures to make lasting improvements to our environmental performance across several areas.
Sustainability starts with the packaging
A key step is the switch to environmentally friendly packaging without plastic. More and more product types are gradually being converted to sustainable packaging solutions. The aim is to consistently reduce plastic packaging and replace it with environmentally friendly alternatives.This is not just about the material itself, but also about optimising the size of the packaging. The new packaging is generally designed to be more compact and reduced to the minimum space required. Less packaging volume means less waste, lower material usage and reduced space requirements for storage and transport.
In addition, products are supplied with functionally appropriate accessories, such as torque supports for hollow-shaft encoders, which are included as standard. This eliminates the need for additional deliveries and packaging units.
Sustainability included in product design
At Wachendorff Automation, this commitment to sustainability is also evident in the product design. For example, battery-free absolute encoders are used, which operate maintenance-free throughout their entire service life. This saves resources, eliminates the need for battery replacement, and reduces environmental loads throughout the product lifecycle.
E-mobility in everyday life
The vehicle fleet has largely been converted to electric vehicles. Every new vehicle in our fleet is an environmentally friendly electric car. In addition, we are continuously expanding our car parks and equipping them with modern wall boxes so that our electric cars can be charged conveniently and efficiently.
In doing so, we are not only reducing CO₂ emissions in our day-to-day operations, but also actively supporting the transition towards more environmentally friendly mobility.
Generating our own energy through photovoltaics
Another key contribution to our sustainability strategy is the use of solar energy, which began in September 2025. A photovoltaic system has been installed on the company’s roof, covering part of our own energy requirements. This environmentally friendly energy source not only supplies our fleet of electric vehicles with clean electricity, but also delivers an impressive output of 328 kWp. In purely mathematical terms, this would be enough to supply around 82 four-person households with electricity each year.
